A Field Day with Minister Lebouthillier

The MP for Châteauguay-Lacolle, Brenda Shanahan, had the honour to receive the Minister of National Revenue, Diane Lebouthillier, on June 8, to participate in a series of activities related to her ministerial function and her background in social work.

They first went to the Centre d’action bénévole (CAB) du Grand Châteauguay to meet with participants of the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program. In the company of the Québec Minister of Finance, Carlos Leitao, they consulted the volunteers about their experience with the program. Members of the CAB de Beauharnois and Impôt-Bénévoles du Suroît of Mercier were also invited. All groups were presented with certificates thanking them for their dedication.

The two colleagues then headed to île St-Bernard of Châteauguay to enjoy the cuisine of Bistro La Traite with a number of the Mayors of Châteauguay-Lacolle. They had the chance to explain to the Minister their needs and the obstacles they face in pursuing the development of their municipalities.

After lunch, they went to Léry to visit the Centre multifonctionnel Horizon, a resource for people with disabilities. President Lyne Loiselle and her husband Alain Daigneault showed them the progress of renovations that will allow the Centre to increase the number of beneficiaries and improve services, including a respite service for families.

“We also tested the elevator they were able to build thanks to a $30,000 aid from the Rick Hansen Foundation, which is funded by the Government of Canada and other organizations,” concluded the MP.
